An 1847 chapel converted into Grand Rapids' most architecturally striking brewery. Belgian-inspired ales brewed with care, served beneath vaulted ceilings and stained glass. The food is surprisingly good. The setting is genuinely extraordinary.

One of the largest and best-preserved historic districts in the Midwest: 1,300 properties spanning 60 architectural styles. Walking through Heritage Hill is a lesson in how wealthy a furniture and lumber city can become. The annual home tour is unmissable.

Grand Rapids didn't become Beer City, USA by accident. It happened because a handful of determined brewers started making exceptional beer in the 1990s — and because the city rewarded that conviction with genuine loyalty.
